Thesis Writing Help: Steps Towards A PhD Degree

There are a number of steps you can take that will help you in writing your PhD thesis. By the time you get to this position in your academic career you will know the many ways to successfully write an essay. The main difference here of course is that this is a very large project and one which will take you many weeks if not months to complete. Here are some practical steps you can take to make your task all that easier.

There will be a date by which your thesis has to be delivered. This is your D-Day or delivery day. Mark this day clearly on your calendar and in your diary. If you can add this date to your digital diary it will act as a prompt.

Count the number of weeks between the day you start and your date of delivery. Knowing that you have X number of weeks remaining will allow you to draw up a plan of attack. This needs to be specific on a monthly basis and detailed on a weekly even daily basis.

Every week set out a new work plan. There is not much use in planning weeks ahead because you do not know if you will have a tough week or two in which you might fall behind. By all means have an end goal and a general monthly goal but at the beginning of every week go specific and set out your details.

Do not panic. If things are not going well for you, if you hit a hurdle such as an illness or some sort of personal problem and find yourself falling behind, do not panic. It means that you need to rethink your plan but worrying and getting into a panic will not help.

Weekly goals are good and so too are daily goals. There is nothing wrong with setting a minimum number of words that you will write on a particular day. And give yourself rewards. If there is something you really enjoy, like watching a particular TV program or enjoying a particular meal; then allow yourself to have the rewards provided you meet your goals.

It's important that you learn how to relax. You are not meant to be working flat out for six months. There needs to be times where you unwind and having these times already sorted the activities already arranged will help you in your overall goal.
